Nine more persons tested positive in Varanasi

 

Varanasi: Nine more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Varanasi on Wednesday. The number of infected persons in the district climbed to 77.

According to the chief medical officer Dr VB Singh, two of the infected persons are son and daughter-in-law of a 75-year-old person from Madanpura area, who had contracted infection from a Tablighi Jamaat attendee from Karnataka. He was tested positive on May 3.

Other six persons tested positive are two brothers, two sisters-in-law, nephew and niece of a 50-year-old power loom weaver of Jaitpura, who was tested positive on April 30. Besides, a woman of Lullapura, who had already been admitted to BHU hospital due to having some complication, also was found infected.

The repeat samples of 52 staff of L-2 facility hospital, who had been quarantined, tested negative. Of 171 samples sent to KGMU Lucknow in past three days laboratory test reports of 162 were received on Wednesday.
