Covid-19 cases continue to rise in Varanasi and adjoining districts
Varanasi: The surge of coronavirus cases in Varanasi and adjoining district continued to increase alarmingly on Sunday, when the four-day Tika Utsav (vaccination festival) also began to vaccinate maximum number of people.
Varanasi district reported 1,520 new cases of Covid-19 and one death on Sunday. According to the medical bulletin, with the new cases the cumulative number of positive cases increased to 29,741 in the district. However, with the recovery of 216 patients, the number of cured patients also increased to 22,617, while the number of fatalities increased to 399. Besides, the number of current active cases of Covid-19 also increased to 6,725 in Varanasi.
In Sobbhadra district, 136 persons tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, increasing the tally of positive cases to 5,882. With the recovery of 23 patients, 5,320 patients have recovered so far, while with two more deaths 82 patients lost their lives during treatment in the district. Currently, Sonbhadra has 480 active cases of coronavirus.
Chandauli district reported 214 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday, increasing the tally of positive cases to 5,737. With the recovery of 33 patients, so far 4,942 patients have recovered, while 71 persons lost their lives due to coronavirus infection. Chandauli currently has 724 active cases of Covid-19.
Mirzapur district reported 207 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday, increasing the tally of positive cases to 4,143. With the recovery of 16 patients, so far 3,477 patients have recovered, while 47 patients died due to coronavirus. Currently, there are 619 active cases of Covid-19 in Mirzapur.
Earler, Jaunpur district reported 197 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday that increased the tally of positive cases to 7,601. So far 6,723 patients have recovered with the recovery of 22 patients on Saturday, while 102 patients lost their lives during treatment. Currently, Jaunpur has 776 active cases of Covid-19.
