Gorakhpur University VC calls on CM

Gorakhpur: DDU Gorakhpur University Vice Chancellor Prof Rajesh Singh on Thursday called on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Gorakhnath Temple and discussed wide-range of issues regarding the development of the Purvanchal (Eastern UP) region. Economic Advisor to the CM, Dr KV Raju was also present in the meeting.

According to the university spokesperson Mahendra Kumar Singh, in the meeting with Prof Singh and Dr Raju, the CM discussed in detail the preparations for the two-day (27th Nov, 2020 & 28th Nov, 2020) webinar on “Purvanchal Development: Issues, Strategies and Way Forward” organised by the Purvanchal Development Board.

The CM emphasised on highlighting local products of the eastern UP such as Terracotta of Gorakhpur, Carpets of Bhadohi, Sarees of Varanasi, Black Pottery of Azamgarh, Decorative products of Deoria, Wood Craft of Basti among others. The CM also stressed on the need for linking the small industries making local products with banking credit system. He said that banker and investors should also be invited in the webinar.

After the meeting Prof Singh said that the office of the Purvanchal Development Board has been established in DDU Gorakhpur University Campus with the aim of preparing Holistic Road Map of future development of developing and resource starved districts of the Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Keeping this in view, Prof Singh said that the national webinar is being organised jointly by Planning Department of Govt. of Uttar Pradesh and DDU Gorakhpur University inviting eminent personalities to contribute papers and speak online or offline mode to prepare a blue print of future road map of “Developed Purvanchal”.

The webinar has been divided in five sectors. The two-day Webinar will begin with inaugural address by the Chief Minister on 27th  November, 2020 as the Chairman of  the Purvanchal Development Board. In the webinar, the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, the Principal Secretaries of various departments will inform and present the various schemes and policies of the Uttar Pradesh government regarding development of eastern UP.
