Varanasi: The police team from Madhya Pradesh were attacked and injured by the men of an accused of cheating to free him from police custody in Shivpur area on Wednesday.
However, the local police succeeded in nabbing the attackers as well as the accused. The police sent them jail after booking them under sections 147, 148, 149, 307, 323, 324, 504, 506, 332, 353, 224, 225, 394, 511 of IPC and 7 CLA Act.
According to reports, a team of four police personnel from Bherwa police station of Singrauli district of MP arrived here to catch the accused Ramesh Singh, a resident of Mahesh Nagar in Shivpur area. Ramesh was arrested for cheating duping innocent people by giving them fake job offers. An FIR had been lodged against him by the victims under sections 420, 294, 506 and 34 of IPC.
According to the Cantt CO Abhimanyu Mangalik, after completing the legal formalities at the Shivpur police station, the MP police left for their destination with the arrested person. In the meantime, a group of Ramesh’s associates attacked the departing police party at some distance from the Shivpur police station. They succeeded in freeing Ramesh and fled with him from the scene. The head constable DN Singh was thrashed brutally by them when he resisted. thrashed by them. He suffered serious injuries in the attack. Immediately, the local police swung into action and arrested six persons including Ramesh within few hours. A manhunt was launched to nab two other accused.
