DDU Gorakhpur University to introduce Film-making course
Gorakhpur: The Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University is going to introduce a course in film making in the next academic session. The vice-chancellor Prof. Rajesh Singh met the actor and MP Ravi Kishan on Saturday and discussed about the plan.
According to the university spokesperson, they discussed in detail about the proposed Film Production course in the university and various proposals sent by the university to the central and state government under Khelo India Scheme.
The VC informed the MP that PG Diploma in Film Production course has been approved in the meeting of Arts Faculty Council and the course will be presented for approval in the upcoming Executive Council meeting. He also informed that the course would be offered from the next academic session.
The VC sought the support of the MP in getting the speedy approval of these proposals by the central and the state governments. He also sought the support of Ravi Kishan in getting the MoUs signed between University and other institutions functioning in the film sector such as National School of Drama (NSD), Film and Television Institute of India (FTTI), convincing film and drama personalities in giving online or offline lecture at the University.

Besides, he also sought his support for placement of students of film production courses and help in setting up studios in the university for smooth running of the course. Appreciating the VC’s vision, Ravi Kishan said that the course on Film Production and Khelo India proposals is beautiful gift given to the people of Poorvanchal and lakh of students of the region. He said that he would raise the issue with centre and state governments and try to get the approval of these proposals soon.
The VC also informed that the university would also provide fellowship to 100 meritorious sportspersons using its own resources from the upcoming academic session. Prof. Ajay Shukla briefed the MP about the proposals of the university under Khelo India and Mahendra Kumar Singh gave detailed information on film production courses.
