APEDA opens Office in Varanasi
Varanasi: The chairman of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) Dr. M Angamuthu inaugurated the APEDA project office in horticulture compound near Collectorate on Thursday.
The inaugural function was attended by the divisional commissioner Deepak Agrawal, district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, APEDA secretary Dr. Sudhanshu, AGM Dr. CB Singh and other senior officials.
According to the AGM, considering the potential for increasing Agri exports from Varanasi region, APEDA has been making efforts for setting up of an Agri export hub and got success in connecting fruit and vegetables, rice shipment to global market. The project office has been opened to take the activities move on the fast track.
APEDA was not having any office in Northern India due to which exporters based in UP, were dealing with APEDA Head-office and other regional office. The opening of APEDA office in Varanasi is an opportunity for farmers and Agri entrepreneurs to send their produces to global market. During Covid-19 pandemic, with the efforts of APEDA and local administration, local farmers managed to send various consignments to different part of the world including London, Dubai.
