IIT (BHU) trains Agri start-ups under RKVY – RAFTAAR Scheme

Varanasi: The IIT (BHU), which had organized a 60-hour online Agri-preneurship Orientation Program (AOP) from October 19 to December 4, held its online valedictory session on Thursday.

As many as 31 start-ups shortlisted under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna – Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation (RKVYRAFTAAR) Agri Business Incubator (R-ABI) had participated from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Bihar, New Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.

The valedictory session was addressed by the IIT (BHU) director Prof. Pramod Kumar Jain, Dean (R&D) Prof. Rajiv Prakash, and principal investigator Prof. Pradeep Kumar Mishra.

Prof. Pramod Kumar Jain in his address congratulated the selected start-ups and emphasised on usage of AI, IOT and Precision Agriculture in the start-up ideas so that Atma Nirbhar Bharat, dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi can be realised.

Prof. Rajiv Prakash explained that Indian agriculture has immense potential for innovation and technology commercialization. Such training programs and mentoring of the start-ups is a key to success. Hence the start-ups should take outmost advantage from these sessions and not only focus on the funding support.

Prof. PK Mishra presented the objectives of the RKVY-RAFTAAR scheme, features of ANKURAN & PRASFUTAN program and highlights of the Agri-preneurship Program conducted by R-ABI, IIT-BHU. He said that only by exploring and encouraging new possibilities in the agricultural sector, farmers income can be doubled, which is a main motive of the RKVY-RAFTAAR for Agri-preneurship scheme.

In this Agri-preneurship Program, six sessions were organized on modern Agriculture practices, five sessions were organized for the better understanding of finance, legal aspects and company compliances and 13 sessions were organized to provide insight on business, growth and sustainability. Interactive sessions with the previous cohort start-ups were also organized for the community learning. Sonal Shukla, Business Manager R-ABI, IIT-BHU gave vote of thanks to all the guests and participating start-up founders.
