Smriti Chowk in Ayodhya in Memory of Lata Mangeshkar
* To keep the memory of the Nightingale of India, Bharat Ratna and a devotee of Lord Ram Lata Mangeshkarji alive in people’s minds through development of Smriti Chowk in Ayodhya, a competition was organised in the month of June. Lataji has sung most of the hymns of Lord Rama. It is heartening that the entries received in the competition are going to make our intention of giving Smriti Chowk a grand, prestigious and natural look a success.
*. More than two lakh students and over 150 leading national and international institutions were invited to the Ms. Lata Mangeshkar Chowk Global Design Competition. Besides Uttar Pradesh, many innovative and creative youths from states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Bihar, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Rajasthan etc. presented their creativity and innovative thinking through this competition. There is something unique in every work, it is wonderful. The final design should incorporate the essential ideas of all entries.
*. New Ghat intersection in Ayodhya should be developed as Lata Mangeshkar Smriti Chowk. It is one of the major sites connecting various places of cultural importance in Ayodhya. Important aspects depicting the life and personality of Lataji like her achievement in the field of music, her soul touching voice, graceful personality etc. should be given place at Smriti Chowk.
*. At the center of Smriti Chowk, the symbol of Vagdevi Saraswati, the ‘Veena’, must be installed. Display other classical instruments here as well. Lataji’s decades of activism in the musical field should be displayed around the square. Also prepare lamp pillars. Make a musical fountain. Finalize its design and submit it by July 31. In any case, the development work should be completed by the end of August.
*. The action plan for the development of the Chowk should harmonize with Ayodhya’s culture, ethos, its great history and the ambitious roadmap for its future development.
*.Smriti Chowk should be designed with suitable road design, underground parking facilities, displaying the glorious rich heritage and culture of Ayodhya and keeping the pedestrians in mind.
