Father and son arrested under charges of rape and religious conversion
Ballia: The police on Monday night arrested two persons including a youth and his father under serious charges of rape and unlawful religious conversion in Kotwali area of Ballia district,
According to reports, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour Abdul Rehman alias Golu when she was alone in her house on January 11. He also made a video of it. The girl narrated her suffering after Golu started pressurizing her again for sexual relationship by showing the video. When the girl’s father requested Golu’s father Kalim to ask his son to delete the video, he was advised for religious conversion. Kalim told him that either his son or he himself would marry his daughter after conversion.
Girl’s father went to the police station on Monday and lodged an FIR against them under sections 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) and 376 (rape) of IPC, sections 3, 4, 17 and 18 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and sections 3 and 5(1) of UP Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Ordinance, 2020.
Ballia Kotawali inspector Vipin Singh said that both the accused were arrested on Monday night.
