President offers prayer at Kashi Vishwanath Temple
Varanasi: President Ram Nath Kovind along with his wife Savita Kovind and daughter Swati Kovind offered prayer to Lord Shiva at the temple. He also saw the grand Ganga Aarti at Dashaswamedh Ghat in the evening.
The President was also accompanied by Governor Anandiben Patel and chief minister Yogi Adityanath. After puja, the CM felicitated him with a shawl, conch shell and Rudraksha garland. The CM also apprised him of the progress in the on-going Kashi Vishwanath Dham (corridor) project.
Earlier, Governor Anandiben Patel, chief minister Yogi Adityanath, UP minister Neelkanth Tiwari, divisional commissioner Deepak Agrawal welcomed the President at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport. On the arrival at the Banaras Locomotive Works, he was welcome by the BLW general manager Anjali Goyal. The President will stay at the BLW guesthouse during his three-day visit to the eastern UP.
The President will make a visit to Sonbhadra district, where he will attend the Vanvasi Sangam and inaugurate the newly-built school and hostel of Seva Samarpan Sansthan of Akhil Bhartiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram at Seva Kunj Ashram, Chapki on Sunday. After attending the programme, he will go to Mirzapur district to offer prayer at Vindhyavasini Devi temple in Vindhyachal. He will also attend a function related to Ganga, environment and Indian culture in Varanasi on March 15 before returning to New Delhi.
