FIR lodged against producers of Mirzapur web series
Mirzapur: A local resident Arvind Chaturvedi lodged an FIR against the producers of Mirzapur web series Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Bhaumik Gondaliya along with the OTT platform Amazon Prime at Mirzapur Kotwali (Dehat) police station on Sunday evening.
According to the SP Ajay Kumar Singh, the case has been lodged under appropriate sections of IPC and IT Act against the producers of Mirzapur web-series and the OTT platform company Amazon Prime.
According to the FIR, they have been booked under sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 505 (with intent to incite, or which is likely to incite, any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community), 34 (criminal acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and 67A (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act) of IT Act.
In his complaint, Arvind alleged that web series hurt the religious, regional and social sentiment and tarnish the image of Mirzapur district, which is famous for the temple of Goddess Vindhyavasini Devi.
