FIR lodged against Power officials in Ballia
Ballia: Four officials of electricity department have been booked under section 304 A (causing death by negligence) of IPC, after three boys lost their lives when a high-tension live wire (11,000 volt) fell on them on Wednesday.
According to reports, the old live wire fell on the three friends Anuk Kumar Singh (23), Surya Prakash alias Chhotu (19) and Sonu Sahu (20) near Laljhari Devi Intermediate College when they were passing through Shobha Chhapara locality. All of them died on the spot.
On the complaints of Anuj’s uncle Lavkush Singh, an FIR was lodged at Bairia police station against four power officials including the local engineer, SDO, executive engineer and superintending engineer. It was alleged in the complaint that the old HT wires were threatening public lives for a long time, and no action was taken by the electricity officials despite the matter being brought into their notice repeatedly by the local residents.
Meanwhile, Ballia district magistrate Aditi Singh ordered a magisterial probe into the matter and assigned the SDM Bairia Prshant Nayak to conduct the probe. The officials of electricity safety were also asked to look into the matter. The DM said that the process to provide compensation to the kin of deceased has been initiated.
