Father and son arrested under charges of rape and religious conversion

Ballia: Following the death of a 25-year-old youth in a road mishap in Dubahar area, the local residents went on a rampage and also blocked the road on Wednesday night.

The irate mob also indulged in brick-batting when the police tried to disperse the gathering. Several policemen sustained injuries and vehicles were damaged in the brick batting. The police lodged an FIR against 22 identified and 40 unknown persons.

According to the reports, a local youth Vishwakarma Paswan was ran over by a speeding truck on the National Highway-31 near Shivpur Diyar village on Wednesday. He died on the spot. The villagers blocked the highway after mishap.

The Dubahar police reached the spot and tried to send the body for postmortem. But, the villagers had a scuffle with the policemen. Later, the police force from Kotwali, Gadwar, Phefana, Sukhpura, Bansdih Road and Haldi were also called to handle the situation.

But, the mob led by Rahul Mishra, Prashant Mishra, Kanhaiya Yadav and others indulged in brick batting and damaging the police vehicles. Later, more police force and PAC personnel were called to bring the situation under control. The body was sent for postmortem.

According to the ASP Sanjay Kumar, a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
