COVID-19 cases continue to grow

Varanasi: With 146 more persons tested positive for COVID-19, the tally rose to 2,231 in Varanasi on Monday. The death toll also rose to 44 with two more fatalities. The coronavirus infection also showed a rising trend in other districts including Azamgarh, Ballia, Sonbhadra, Mau, Chandauli, Jaunpur and Mirzapur.

According to Varanasi medical bulletin, as many as 66 patients, who recovered from illness, were discharged from different COVID-19 facilities. So far, 921 patients have recovered, while there are 1,266 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.

In Ballia district, out of 1,540 lab test reports received on Monday, 46 persons were tested positive increasing the number to 1,429. Among them 699 patients have recovered so far, while 16 persons died. Presently, the district has 714 active cases of COVID-19.

In Mirzapur district, 42 new positive cases were found on Monday increasing the tally to 479. Of them, 300 patients have recovered while 10 had died. Presently, there are 169 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.

Azamgarh district reported 48 new cases of COVID-19 increasing the number to 736. Of them, 371 have recovered, while 12 persons died. Presently, the district has 352 active cases of COVID-19. Mau district reported two positive cases of coronavirus. So far, 282 patients have recovered, while six persons died. Presently, the district has 120 active cases of COVID-19.

Sonbhadra district reported 35 new cases of COVID-19 increasing the tally to 456. Of them 302 patients have recovered so far, while three persons died. Presently, the district has 151 active cases of coronavirus.

In Chandauli district, 41 new cases of coronavirus were found on Monday increasing the tally to 776. So far, 486 patients have recovered, while seven persons lost their lives. Presently, the district has 283 active cases of COVID-19.

In Jaunpur district, 68 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday increasing the tally to 1,429. So far, 875 patients have recovered from illness, while 22 persons died during treatment. Presently, there are 532 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.
