Minor girl jumps into Ganga

Mirzapur: Aggrieved over scolding by her kin, a minor girl jumped into Ganga, at Mediah bridge under Kotwali police station of Mirzapur on Sunday. However, she was rescued by local boatmen.

According to reports, the 17-year-old girl identified as Jamuna Devi, resident of Premapur village under Kotwali Police station, left her home on a bicycle for Ramgarh in the morning. But, after parking her bicycle near the Mediah bridge she jumped into the river in end her life. Seeing her jumping into the river, the local boatmen saved her from drowning and informed the police.

The police reached the spot after getting information, and later handed over the girl to family members. She told policemen that she was aggrieved over scolding by father and brother while speaking on phone. She took the extreme step over the issue. Meanwhile, her parked bicycle was stolen by someone from the spot.
