BHU & CSIR-NISTADS sign MoU
Varanasi: Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University and CSIR- National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (CSIR-NISTADS), have signed an MoU to collaborate in the studies and research in different areas. The signing ceremony was organized through video link at BHU’s computer Centre and CSIR-NISTADS, Delhi, in wake of COVID-19 protocols. Dr. Neeraj Tripathi, Registrar, BHU and Dr. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director, CSIR-NISTADS signed the MoU.
According to the BHU spokesperson Rajesh Singh, the main areas of cooperation will be science and technology studies, quantitative science studies, science policy, technological readiness and development studies among others. The MoU provides for joint research projects, collaborative research, joint research supervision, exchange of faculty and students and joint policy studies.

Addressing the programme, Dr. Neeraj Tripathi said that the MoU will open new avenues for university students and researchers. Speaking at the occasion, Prof. A. K. Tripathi, Director, Institute of Science, BHU, said that CSIR-NISTADS can play an important role in exposing university students to CSIR technologies.
Prof. A. S. Raghuvanshi, Director, Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development and Prof. S. K. Dubey. Director, Institute of Management Studies, also spoke on possible areas of collaboration between the two institutions. Prof. Raghuvanshi was of the view that BHU offers a massive infrastructure which may be used for CSIR technologies before exposing them to the industry or concerned stakeholders. This will benefit the scientists, researchers and students at BHU.
Prof. Dubey highlighted how Institute of Management Studies is contributing to government projects and evaluating many of them. He added that there are several areas where CSIR-NISTADS – BHU collaboration can be of greater impact.
Prof. ViveK Singh, Coordinator, Computer Centre, BHU, said that BHU and CSIR-NISTADS can work together in setting up a joint centre for a quantitative science studies. He added that there are many other areas where the two institutions can join hands and make a difference. Highlighting the areas in which CSIR-NISTADS is providing its expertise, Dr. Ranjana Aggarwal, emphasized the policy-oriented focus of NISTADS and said that NISTADS has executed several such projects for government and international agencies. She said that the institute has a very unique library which will be of great use for students and faculty members of BHU. She said that the CSIR-NISTADS can play a key role in taking CSIR technologies to the masses and this MoU is a way to facilitate it. Prof Sujit Bhattacharya, Chief Scientist, NISTADS and Dr Yogesh Suman, Senior Principal Scientist, NISTADS were also present on the occasion.
