Corona-dead Exchanged at BHU Mortuary
Varanasi: The dead body of Varanasi’s additional chief medical officer Dr. Jang Bahadur, who died due to coronavirus infection, was exchanged with some other’s body at the mortuary of Banaras Hindu University on Wednesday.
According to reports, the matter came to light when the family members of the dead claiming the swapping of bodies reached Harishchandra Ghat, where cremation was in progress. By then, the body had already been put on burning pyre for cremation.
After knowing it the kin of the ACMO again went to the BHU mortuary, and received his body. Later, the body was cremated at the electric crematorium at the Harishchandra Ghat.

The ACMO had passed away at the ICU of BHU hospital on late Tuesday night. Earlier, he was admitted to a private hospital four days back. He was tested negative for Covid-19 for the first time, but on Tuesday he was found positive, and shifted to BHU hospital, where he breathed his last.
He had been looking after the arrangements of Covid-19 management at the hospitals and medical staff quarantine arrangements. With his effective management the hospitals and hospital quarantine hotels were doing well.
