STF nabs a Drug peddler
Varanasi: Varanasi field unit of UP STF personnel along with narcotic department officials caught an inter-state drug peddler and recovered 21.22 quintals ganaja worth Rs. five crores near Chakiya turning in Alinagar police station area of Chandauli district on Friday.
According to reports, acting on a tip off the police and officials of narcotic control bureau caught the smuggler identified as Subodh Kumar Yadav, resident of Kodarma district of Jharkhand. The contraband was being transported in a container truck (WB 11 B 5353).

During interrogation, the arrested person disclosed that the container is owned by one Mohammad Salim Akhtar of Howrah (West Bengal). The container was hired by one Sudhir for the transportation of contraband from Andhra Pradesh to Prayagraj. He also informed that the consignment was being smuggled by Datool Singh of Bihar through Dabbu Singh and Prem Singh of West Bengal. He said that he received Rs. 60,000 per trip.
The arrested person was booked under NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway.
