161 new COVID-19 cases in Varanasi
Varanasi: With 161 new cases of COVID-19, the tally rose to 2,085 in the district on Sunday. The death toll also rose to 42 with three fatalities. The spurt in coronavirus cases also witnessed in other districts of eastern UP. Besides, the coronavirus also infected eight prison staff and six prisoners in Bhadohi district jail.
According to the medical bulletin of Varanasi district, 26 recovered patients were discharged from the hospitals on Sunday. So far, 855 patients have recovered. Presently, the district has 1,188 active cases of COVID-19 at different hospitals.
In Ballia district, 54 new cases of COVID-19 were found on Sunday increasing the tally to 1,294. So far 661 patients have recovered, while 16 persons lost their lives. Presently, there are 615 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.

In Bhadohi district, 24 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported on Sunday. Of them 14 were reported from Bhadohi jail. A deputy jailer, seven prison guards and six prisoners were tested positive for COVID-19.
In Mau district, out of 493 lab test reports received on Sunday, 14 persons were found positive increasing the tally to 400. Of them 277 have become recovered while six persons died so far. Presently, the district has 117 active cases on COVID-19.
Chandauli district reported 57 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday night increasing the tally to 726. Of them seven persons died, while 281 persons are under treatment. In Jaunpur district, 35 new cases of COVID-19 were found increasing the number to 1,3110. Of them, 801 persons have recovered.
