Azamgarh: A man and his son were shot dead by some unknown miscreants at Rasoolpur Dudhahar village in Ghudsahana Naupur gram panchayat in Deogaon Kotwali area in Azamgarh district on Thursday evening. The killing is believed to be the fallout of poll rivalry.
The police were investigating the matter. The villagers blocked the road and staged dharna in protest against the killing. Heavy police force has been deployed in the village in view of the prevailing tension.

According to reports, Hiralal alias Mithai Yadav and his son Tej Yadav were shot at by some miscreants in front of their house around 6pm. Hiralal died on the spot, while Tej succumbed to injuries at the Lalpur community health centre during treatment.
In protest against the double murder an irate mob of villagers blocked the road and staged dharna. Senior police officials along with force reached there after getting information. The bodies were sent for postmortem. The police officials were camping in the village in view of the tension.
