Rotary Shiv Ganga celebrates I-Day
Varanasi: The members of Rotary Club Varanasi Shiv Ganga celebrated the Independence Day by doing ‘anna-daan’ and holding virtual drawing, quiz and fancy-dress competitions.
Following the norm of social distancing, a function was organized under the leadership of club president Anand Barman in the morning at Lahurabir, where the first lady Shika Barman unfurled the National Flag. They also took pledge to defeat the coronavirus. After the flag hoisting, they distributed ration, sweets, masks and sanitizers among the tribal girls of Sharda Apala Asharam.
Later in the evening, the children of club members took part in the virtual competitions organized in three categories of drawing, quiz and fancy-dress. In the first category of drawing competition, Adya Jain stood first followed by Kumar Kartik and Anshi Seth. In second category, the first three winners were Swasti Singh, Iti Sharma and Vaidik Verma, while Raunak Khanna, Shambhavi Nagar and Bhavya Seth were the first three winners in third category.
The winners of quiz in all three categories were Adya Jain (1st), Kumar Kartik (2nd), Darsh Sharma (3rd), Vaidik Verma (1st), Shikhar, Sakshi, Pankhudi, Swasti, Iti, Divya (2nd). Tejas Seth (1st), Ujjwal Gupta (2nd), Bhavya Seth and Anubhab (3rd). In fancy dress competition, the winners were Adya Jain (1st), Anukriti (2nd), Kumar Kartik (3rd),

The programme began with the recital of patriotic song and poem by Ranjana Kumar and Sakshi Chowdhary. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Sanjay Agrawal highlighted the importance of the day. The founder president Ravishankar Singh welcomed the guests. The secretary Anoop Nagar conducted the programme while former president Ambarish Nigal tendered a vote of thanks.
