Amar Singh dies in Singapore
Varanasi: Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh passed away after a prolonged illness at a hospital in Singapore on Saturday. He was 64. He is survived by his wife and twin daughters.
Singh hailed from Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. He had been ailing for a long time and was under treatment at Singapore hospital.

Hours before his death, he had tweeted a tribute to freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his death anniversary, and also wished Eid Al Adha to all his followers. In 2013, Singh had suffered kidney failure in Dubai. He had recently undergone a second kidney transplant.
Amar Singh was once considered very close to Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav. He resigned from all positions in SP on January 6, 2010 and was later expelled from the party.
