Youth beaten to death in Azamgarh
Azamgarh: A 25-year-old youth was allegedly lynched by the family members of a girl at a village in Kaptanganj police station area of Azamgarh district on Tuesday night. The police detained five persons including the girl for interrogation.
According to reports, Manish Ram, resident of the dalit basti of the village, had an affair with a girl of the same basti. The relationship was opposed by their families. In order to separate them, Manish’s family sent him to Mumbai for earning. Recently, he had returned home and started meeting the girl.
On Tuesday night, when he had gone to meet the girl, he was caught by her family members and made captive. They tied his hands and legs and beat him badly. Meanwhile, his family members came to know about it and informed the police. Before the arrival of police, the accused fled from the scene. The police rescued him and rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
Azamgarh SP Sudhir Kumar Singh said that five persons including the girl have been detained for interrogation. The investigation is underway.
