Varanasi: With 179 cases of coronavirus infection in a single day Varanasi recoded the highest surge of COVID-19 infected persons on Friday. With it, the total number of coronavirus infected persons rose to 1,822 in the district.

According to the medical bulletin, 25 patients, who recovered from illness, were discharged from the hospital on Friday. So far, 788 patients have recovered, while 38 patients lost their lives. Presently, there are 996 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.

In Mau district, 14 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday increasing the tally to 370. According to the Mau CMO Dr. Satish Chandra Singh, so far 273 patients have recovered, while five patients died. Presently, the district has 93 active cases of COVID-19.

With 10 more COVID-19 cases in Mirzapur district, the total number increased to 374 on Friday. As many as 10 recovered persons wrere discharged from the hospital. With it, 262 persons have recovered so far, while 10 persons lost their lives. Presently, Mirzapur district has 102 active cases of COVID-19.
