Varanasi: A sub-inspector posted at Shivpur police station in Varanasi has been suspended and a departmental inquiry has also been initiated against him after he was caught throwing ‘butta’ (maize) off a cart of a street vendor and then upturning it in a video clip.
The video clip of this deplorable act went viral on the social media. It led the police to initiate action against the erring cop and also apologize to the vendor. Besides, the police also compensated him for the loss.
In the video clip, the SI Varun Kumar Shashi is seen scooping up the corn cobs off and throwing them across the road in Shivpur locality. He also overturned the cart.

After the video went viral on Monday, the SSP Amit Pathak ordered for the suspension of the cop and departmental inquiry against him. The police also released a video clip of an officer meeting the vendor and apologizing for SI’s misbehaviour.
The CO Cantt Mushtaq Ahmad said that the SI Varun Kumar Shashi has been suspended for his act and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against him. The vendor was also compensated for the loss.
