Ex-MP Rajesh Mishra Injured
Jaunpur: Former MP from Varanasi and senior Congress leader Rajesh Mishra was injured in a road mishap in Badalapur area of Jaunpur district on Thursday. Two other persons travelling with him also sustained injuries.
According to reports, Mishra was going to Lucknow for some work along with his two persons Jayprakash Mishra and Sarvendra Shukla in a car. The vehicle overturned on an under-construction road while crossing through Badalapur area.
The local residents came to their rescue. The injured persons were taken to the Badalapur community health centre (CHC), from where they were referred to Varanasi after first aid. According to the doctors, Mishra sustained injuries on his head and leg. Jayprakash also sustained head injury while Sarvendra sustained minor injury. Several local Congress leaders reached the CHC after getting the information.

Mishra is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University. He was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha from Varanasi in 2004 by defeating BJP leader Shankar Prasad Jaiswal. However, he lost the seat to BJP’s Murli Manohar Joshi in 2009 parliamentary election. He ranked fourth and was denied ticket in the 2014 parliamentary election. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, he was fielded from Salempur seat, but he failed to win. He had also unsuccessfully contested the 2017 UP assembly polls from Varanasi South seat.
