Drug peddler arrested in Chandauli and Varanasi
Chandauli/Varanasi: The police arrested an inter-state woman drug peddler and three aides near Usari canal culvert in Chakia police station area of Chandauli district on Thursday night. The police recovered 64kg ganja worth Rs. 13 lakh from their car.
According to reports, acting on a tip off the police intercepted their car and recovered the drugs. The arrested persons were identified as Mansha Devi, Surendra Kumar, Jay Singh Chauhan, all residents of Ghazipur district, and Gopal Chauhan of Chandauli district.
During interrogation, Mansha revealed that she used to smuggle ganja from Bhabhua district of Bihar and supply to other parts of UP and Bihar. She has been in this trade for last 14 years. Chakia inspector Rahamtullah Khan said that the arrested persons were booked under NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, two drug peddlers were also arrested in Bhacchaon market in Rohaniya area in Varanasi district on Friday. The police recovered 12.8 kg ganja from them. Rohaniya inspector Prashuram Tripathi said that the arrested persons were identified as Ashok Jaiswal of Mirzapur district and Aftab alias Tingur of Rohaniya area.
