Opposition has ‘Division’ in DNA -Yogi

Lucknow: Hitting out at the opposition parties, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleged that they are playing divisive cards to break the society on caste and community lines.

“Division is in their (opposition parties) DNA. They are trying to divide the society on caste and community lines,” said Yogi while virtually addressing the BJP workers on Saturday as part of preparations for assembly by-election to Deoria Sadar assembly constituency scheduled on November 3.  The seat fell vacant after the demise of BJP MLA Janmejay Singh.

Yogi alleged that the opposition is frustrated due the development works undertaken under the BJP rule, and they are trying to defame his government by using every trick. “Their thought process is dirty and their intention is dangerous,” said Yogi, adding, “They first divided the country, and are now attempting to divide the society on the basis of caste, community and region”. Targeting Congress and other parties, he alleged that or them, the interest of their clan is the most important, while everything else is secondary.

Slamming the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), he said that these parties ruled the state for 15 years, but they have only corruption and anarchy to count as their achievement. “From time-to-time, these parties have throttled democracy and the Constitution. Their development was confined only to slogans and speeches,” he said.

Yogi said that the country witnessed the beginning of actual development six years ago with the formation of the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Owing to all-round development, the popularity of BJP is continuously rising, and there is a feeling of positivity in the public, he said.

Raising the problem of encephalitis, Yogi said that from 1974 to 2017, the disease had claimed the lives of more than 50,000 people, most of them children. “No one had ever raised their voice. In a time of only three years, we are on the way towards eradication of encephalitis,” he claimed.

Terming Deoria as the sacred land of Devraha Baba, he said that it was known as the sugar bowl, and the economy of the area was based on sugarcane. “Ask them why in their tenure one after another sugar mills were sold at throwaway prices,” he questioned.
