DM asks to ensure the availability of unadulterated food

Varanasi: In order to ensure the availability of unadulterated milk and other edibles, the district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma instructed the officials of different departments to establish proper coordination and communication.

The DM held a meeting of the meeting of the district level committee of the department of Food Safety and Drug Administration on Tuesday. He asked the officials to complete the training and certification of the people in food business engaged in hotels, restaurants and food vending establishments during the ‘Healthy City Varanasi’ programme from September 1 to 15.

He directed every department concerning the food, adulteration milk, and drug department to complete their certification and get registered. He asked the drug inspector to take immediate action in the district to stop the sale of banned oxytocin injections for the animals.

The Varanasi Municipal Corporation was directed to establish a control room to address the complaints regarding hygiene of street food vendors. He also directed for intensive inspection of bakery, sale of the salty units operated without license and registration.

He asked the officials of gram panchayat, health, agriculture, dairy development municipal corporation, civil defence and drug dealer association to send letters to the concerned departments regarding receiving the notification on the format of adulteration in food items. The DM also directed for training and certification of food traders of 50 reputed food establishments in the district.

The meeting was attended by the officials of various departments including health, police, food, Mandi Parishad, drug inspector, weight and measurement, commercial tax.
