RGU holds Dialogue on Dekho-Apna-Desh
Varanasi: Under the scheme of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development – ‘EK Bharat Shrestha Bharat’, Rajiv Gandhi University organized a dialogue on ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ in collaboration with Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on Tuesday.
Dr. Sambhu Prasad, Nodal Officer, RGU welcomed all the members and briefed about the programme. He said the objective of this programme is to promote the uniqueness of India as a nation which is woven by diverse linguistic, cultural and religious threads, held together into a composite national identity by a rich history of cultural evolutions. The programme showcased the History, Tangible and Intangible Heritage, Foods, Arts, Craft etc. of Arunachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
In his address the Arunachal Pradesh Minister of Tourism Transport and Civil Aviation, Nakam Nalo invited everyone to visit and experience Arunachal Pradesh. He said that the state shared international border with China, Bhutan, Myanmar, and is the largest in term of geographical area in the northeast. “One won’t know about Arunachal unless one visit. Unless we know each other, Ek Bharat cannot be achieved,” he added.

Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, said that in this pandemic time, the role of the teaching profession is very important. “We should motivate our students, teachers as well as common citizen to come out of this common fear,” he said and stressed on starting ‘Know Your Country’ as a part of syllabus right from school going students, class1-12 and should include various states and their unique culture, food habits, languages and lifestyles. He said that the North East Part of India has much more to offer.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of BHU, Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar reminded all that Bharat is a great country with many provinces with many languages and food styles and lifestyles. He highlighted the greatness of the old civilization like India who had given place for everyone making it the ideal place for unity in diversity. Taking examples of the Parshi and Jews people who have come to the country as a businessman and settled as a part of the country, he added the country has embraced everyone with open arms despite of religious and other differences.
The speaker of the programme Prof. Shambhunath Tiwari, Dept. of Hindi, AMU elaborated the existence of culture with the quotes “loss of Culture is loss of Identity” He focused on the beauty of culture and tradition in every state and also added that Arunachal is a very resourceful state awesome languages and many research are going on.
The second speaker Dr. Pavin Singh Rana of the Tourism management of BHU gave a presentation on the topic “Focusing tourism in eastern UP”. He explained the huge tourism potential of the area. He highlighted places like Agra which is famous for its Taj Mahal, Mathura, Vrindavan, Varanasi, Lucknow, Ayodhya and Jhansi and many more. He spoke about the uniqueness of Banarasi Saree, Lucknow’s chikankari and Mathura’s Sanjhi art.

Prof. Tariq Mansoor, Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University in his speech recalled the unique beauty of the country. “Every place in the country is unique and we should not compare, each has its unique characteristic, cultural heritage and natural surroundings,” he said adding that due to this pandemic, hospitably and tourism industries were given a hammer blow. He also stressed upon bringing a tourism friendly environment in the country.
Prof. Sumpam Tangjang, Dean Student’s Welfare in his deliberation gave a nice description of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, its journey from NEFA days to the present time. He said that the land is inhibited by many tribes with their unique languages, celebrating different festivals, worshiping many god and goddess. He requested all to visit Arunachal Pradesh which is home to many species of orchids, natural parks and a uniquely poised biodiversity.
The programme was also attended by Prof. MK Singh, Dean of Students, BHU, Prof. S. Sirajuddin Ajmali, Nodal officer, AMU, Prof. VN Tripathi Nodal officer, BHU joint coordinators of RGU and AMU Dr. Rajeev Ranjan Prasad and Dr. Araman Rasol Faridi.
