Sanitary-Pad Bank opened in PM’s Kashi
Varanasi: A sanitary pad bank, first of its kind in the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, came into existence in Raja Talab locality in Rohaniya area.
The bank was inaugurated by the Araziline block pramukh Nageena Singh Patel. The bank has been established by an NGO Red Brigade in association with the Asha Trust.
Speaking on the occasion, Patel lauded the efforts of the NGO for working for the cause of women and said that the poor women would be benefited with this bank. A teacher Puja Gupta voluntarily has taken the responsibility of running the bank. She said that free sanitary napkins would be provided to the poor and needy women and girls. A helpline (9336617112) has also been introduced for the convenience of women.

Ballabhacharya Pandey of Asha Trust said that 10 more such banks would be opened in the district to facilitate maximum women. Besides free distribution to the poor, the sanitary pads would be provided at subsidized rate to general women.
The programme was attended by many social workers including Raj Kumar Gupta, Ajay Patel of Red Brigade, Nagme Iram Khan, Priyanka Bharati, Priya Rai, and others.
