One more COVID death in Varanasi

Varanasi: A 77-year-old person died of COVID-19 at BHU hospital on Monday night increasing the death toll to eight in the district. Six more persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday increasing the tally to 291.

According to the chief medical officer Dr. VB Singh, the man was a retired railway employee from Hukulganj area. He was suffering from tuberculosis and cardiac problem. His sample was sent for laboratory test after hospitalization. In sample result, which came after his death, he was tested positive.

The other infected persons include a 35-year-old and a 33-year-old man of Golghar Maidagin area, a 24-year-old man of Buddha City Sarnath, 26-year-old person of Premchand Nagar Colony Pandeypur, a 72-year-old man from old hotspot area and a 55-year-old man of Nandnagar Ashapur area. So far 214 patients recovered from illness, while the number of active cases is 69 in the district. Besides, a person of Bihar and a resident of Mirzapur also tested positive.

With new cases, five more areas including Golghar, Buddha City, Premchand Nagar, Hukulganj and Nand Nagar have been declared hotspots. Out of 150 hotspots, 76 are presently in active category.
