Muslim clerics appealed to support to the battle against COVID-19

 

Varanasi: The district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma and SSP Prabhakar Chowdhary on Saturday held a meeting with the Muslim clerics and sought their support in combating the COVID-19.

The meeting was attended by Mufti-e-Banaras Maulana Abdul Batin, Akhlaq Ahmad, A Malik and SM Yasin. The officials discussed the preventive measures and preparedness of the local administration to check the spread of corona virus. They sought their cooperation in this battle against COVID-19, and them about all support from the district administration to address their problems.

The DM said that the people, who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi, should come forward willingly to get themselves screened at the district hospital. If they don’t do so it would be a serious danger to their own family and the society as well. “Such people are given a chance to get themselves examined, otherwise strict legal actions under National Security Act would be initiated against them,” said the DM adding that if someone experiences the symptoms of the virus, he should immediately inform the control room (1077) and visit the DDU district hospital for screening. They were also cautioned for and kind of misbehavior or misconduct with the doctors and staff.

The DM asked the clerics to apprise the community of the seriousness of the situation. He also warned that the stern action would be taken for the violation of the protocol. The clerics were also asked to make an appeal to the people not to violate the lockdown even during the Shab-e-Rat festival falling from April 8-11.

Meanwhile, the Mufti-e-Banaras also made an appeal through a video message to the community to follow the prescribed protocol in fighting against the corona virus. In his appeal, he asked the people to cooperate with the doctors and administrative officials in doing their job. He advised them to get screened first then go to home for the safety of family health.
