Patna: Amid the rise in COVID-19 cases in the state, the Bihar government decided to go for a complete lockdown from July 16 to 31. However, the emergency services will be exempted from the restrictions.
Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday reportedly said that lockdown would be imposed in the state from July 16 to 31 to check the spread of COVID-19. The guidelines for the statewide lockdown are being prepared.
According to the health department, as many as 9,129 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far 12,364 people have recovered. The recovery rate (70.97%) is higher than the national average of 63.02%.

After the proposal prepared on Monday, the Crisis Management Group (CMG) held a meeting on Tuesday before declaration of lockdown. Earlier, 75 BJP leaders were also tested positive for COVID-19 at the BJP office in Patna.
With 2,097 COVID-19 cases and 15 deaths so far, Patna has been the worst hit by the coronavirus outbreak, followed by Bhagalpur with 1,074 infections and 12 fatalities. Other districts with a high number of cases include Begusarai (813), Muzaffarpur (787), Siwan (711), Munger (646), and Madhubani (632).
