COVID-19 tally rises to 760
Varanasi: With 37 more persons tested positive for COVID-19, the tally rose to 760 in the district on Friday, and with one more death of corona patient on Thursday late night the toll rose to 26.
An 80-year-old patient of Ashokpuram colony in Dafi locality died of hypertension and heart attack. As many as 10 patients, who recovered from illness, were discharged from the hospitals. So far 432 patients have been discharged after treatment. Presently, there are 302 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.
With the detection of new positive cases the total number of hotspots rose to 371, of which 142 became green, while 186 are in red zone and 43 in orange zone. On Friday, the samples of 228 persons were collected for testing. So far 15,037 samples have collected out of which the reports of 13,338 were received. The reports of 1,699 samples are awaited.

In view of the rapid spread of COVID-19 the district administration has imposed restrictions till July 13 morning. The district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that strict action would be taken against those who violate the restrictions.
According to him, the milk and vegetable/fruit vendors would be allowed to open shops from 7 am to 10 am, while medicine shops would be allowed to run from 10 am to 2 pm. The medicine shops in nursing homes and and hospitals have been exempted from the restriction.
The DM said that the door-to-door campaign of the health department would continue. The sanitary activities of municipal corporation would also continue. No one be allowed to go out except medical emergency. The petrol pumps would be operational from 7 am to 2 pm.
