Enhanced security of airport urged
Varanasi: A lawyer Shashank Shekhar Tripathi, resident of Pindra, has urged the local administration, police and airport authorities to enhance the security along the boundary of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport adjacent to the Varanasi-Jaupur highway.
The Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport is located at Babatpur, about 26 km from Varanasi city. Formerly known as Varanasi Airport, it was officially renamed after former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in October 2005. It is India’s 20th-busiest airport in terms of passenger movement and second-busiest airport in Uttar Pradesh. An integrated terminal serves both domestic and international flights.
Tripathi said that anyone can easily peep into the airstrip and other installations of the airport from the Varanasi-Jaunpur highway that passes along the northern boundary of the airport. He urged the authorities to increase the height of the boundary wall and deploy adequate number of paramilitary force personnel on this sides.
