Chandauli reports first COVID-19 death

 

Varanasi: The Chandauli district reported first COVID-19 death on Saturday. A 30-year-old youth, resident of Amra village in Dhanapur block, died at Sir Sunderlal Hospital of Banaras Hindu University.

According to Chandauli district magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal, he had returned from Nasik on May 15 and was admitted to ICU of BHU hospital on May 27. He is survived by parents, pregnant wife and three children, who were being examined in contact tracing process.

Meanwhile, seven new cases of CIVID-19 were found in other districts including Varanasi (2), Ballia (2), Ghazipur (2) and Mau (1).

In Varanasi, a 67-year-old retired government employee of Badi Piyari locality was found infected. Besides, a 44-year-old man, resident of Pragya Nagar colony in Lanka area who works as lab technician at Aurai community health centre in Bhadohi district, has also been tested positive. The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Varanasi rose to 168. Of it 111 have recovered. Presently, there are 53 active cases in the district.
