Drug dealer, the super spreader of corona virus, lands in jail

Infects 12 persons in Varanasi; Booked under sections 269, 270 and 271 of IPC.

 

Varanasi: After being discharged from the hospital, the medicine trader of Saptsagar wholesale market of Varanasi was sent to jail. As many as 12 persons including four family members contracted corona virus from him.

The district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that the medicine trader, resident of Madauli locality in Manduadih area, was booked and sent jail under judicial custody for violating the prescribed protocol. He was discharged from the DDU District hospital on Thursday after tested negative twice.

After he was tested positive for COVID-19 on April 25, the district administration ordered for the closure of drugs wholesale markets. Besides his family members, his employee, other traders and customers were also infected after coming in contact with him.

An FIR was lodged against him on April 30 under sections 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 and 271 (Disobedience to quarantine rule) of IPC.
