COVID death rises to 10 in Varanasi

VARANASI:  The deaths of two coronavirus infected persons increased toll to 10 in the district, while the tally of COVID-19 cases crossed the mark of 300 on Thursday. With 11 more infected persons the number of positive cases rose to 304. So far 218 patients have been recovered from illness and were discharged from the hospitals. Presently there are 76 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.

According to the daily bulletin issued by the district administration, the test reports of 130 samples were received from BHU lab on Thursday. Of them 11 samples were found positive.

A 46-year-old patient and resident of Govindpura locality, who was admitted to BHU hospital with breathing problem on June 16, die on June 17 during treatment. Another 54-year-old resident of Avsanpur in Baragaon area was also admitted to BHU hospital with breathing problem on June 16. He died on the same day. He was suffering from typhoid. The test reports of both patients were received on Thursday after their death.

Other infected persons include a 70-year-old man of Shukulpura area, a 47-year-old resident of Bhadaini locality, a 27-year-old medical professional of BHU, a 50-year-old textile trader of Cholapur, a 49-year-old resident of Gauriganj, a 35-year-old woman of Dharsauna (Cholapur),  a 60-year-old resident of Jagatganj, a 30-year-old resident of Gola Deenanath, and a  60-year-old resident of  Shivpur.

Seven new hotspots would be created in the district. With the new hotspots the total number rose to 157. So far 84 hotspots returned to green zone. Presently the district has 73 active hotspots including 46 in orange zone and 27 in red zone.

A lady doctor of Mirzapur district women hospital was tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.  The hospital has been closed for three days for sanitization. The admitted patients have been isolated. According to Mirzapur chief medical officer Dr. OP Tiwari, there are 15 active cases of COVID-19 in the district, while 39 patients have been discharged so far after recovering from illness. In Ghazipur, 17 new positive cases were found increasing the tally to 240 in the district.  Presently there are 81 active cases of COVID-19 in Ghazipur.
