Varanasi: With 11 new coronavirus infected patients the tally rose to 423 in the district on Saturday.
According to the chief medical officer Dr VB Singh, 186 test reports were received from BHU lab on Saturday in which 11 persons were found positive for Covid-19. So far 274 persons recovered from illness and were discharged from the hospitals. The district has witnessed 16 deaths due to COVID-19. Presently, there are 133 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.

The new patients include a 60-year-old accountant from Kakarmatta Bhelupur area, a 68-year-old man and his 62-year-old wife of Doodhvinayak Panchganga Ghat area, a 49-year-old bank employee of Swastik Gardenia Shivpur, a 52-year-old general merchant of Naria Lanka, a 43-year-old wood supplier of Sarainandan Sundarpur Lanka, a 30-year-old woman of Nadesar and a 33-year-old salesman of Ramapura Luxa. Other three patients including a 52-year-old woman of Daanganj Cholapur, a 20-year-old boy and a 42-year-old women of Sonia, Sigra are relatives of already infected persons.
Six new areas including Doodhvinayak, New Colony Kakarmatta, Swastik Gardenia, Jain temple street Lanka, Lodhipura Nadesar and Ramapura Luxa area were declared new hotspots. With it, the total number of hotspots rose to 211 of which 96 are active.
