First COVID-19 positive case reported in Ballia
Ballia: With the detection of first COVID-19 positive case on Monday, the Ballia district of eastern UP, which had been in ‘Green Zone’ since the commencement of lockdown, joined the club of corona infected districts.
According to the district magistrate SP Shahi, the 16-year-old boy, resident of Chand Diyar village of Bairia area, tested positive for COVID-19. He returned home from Ahmedabad via Jaunpur. He arrived Jaunpur by a Shramik special train on May 4. After thermal screening in Jaunpur, he was sent to Ballia on May 5.
He along with others were quarantined at DAV Inter College, Belthera Road. The samples of quarantined people were taken on May 7. Except him the other eight persons were tested negative. He was shifted to the isolation ward of the hospital.
