BHU’s super specialty block starts functioning
Varanasi: The newly inaugurated 430-bedded Centenary Super speciality Block in Sir Sunderlal Hospital of Banaras Hindu University started functioning on Monday. The crowds of patients and attendants were seen in the OPDs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated this superspecialty block during his visit to the city on February 16. It was established at the cost of Rs. 200 crores under PMSSY scheme.
On the first day as many as 208 patients were examined in cardiology OPD, 225 in endocrinology, 654 in gastroenterology, 48 in nephrology, 48 in neurosurgery, 198 in neurology, 40 in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, and 206 in urology OPD.
According to BHU spokespersons, eight e-rickshaw and ambulance were made available free of cost to carry the patients from Sir Sunderlal Hospital to the super specialty block.
The medical superintendent Prof SK Mathur informed that there are 13 operation theatres, two intensive care units and 27 general wards in the super specialty block.
