PCS officer commits suicide

Ballia: The executive officer of Maniyar Nagar Panchayat, Manimanjari Rai (30) allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling of her room in Awas Vikas Colony in Kotwali police station area on Monday late night.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when local residents saw inside her room through open windows. The police reached there after getting information. According to police, a suicide note was found in the room. In her note she had alleged that she had been framed in some politically motivated case. Further investigation is underway.

A native of Bhanvarkole area of Ghazipur district, she had been posted as EO of Maniyar Nagar Pannchayat for past two years. She lived in a rental house in Awas Vikas Colony.

The district magistrate Hari Pratap Shahi, SP Devendra Nath, nayab tehsildar Jaya Singh, EO Bansdih Sima Rai and many other officials reached the spot after getting information. The body was sent for postmortem.
