IIT (BHU) comes up with medicinal products to increase immunity
Varanasi: The global impact of the Covid-19 virus itself communicates that there should be a self-defense mechanism in human beings to counter the effect of the virus. Some incubates
working at the Malaviya Centre for Innovation incubation and Entrepreneurship (MCIIE) at IIT (BHU) have developed various innovative products which are helpful in developing immunity in
human beings and reducing the effect of these types of viruses.
Moringa tea has been manufactured in a start up under the RKVY-RAFTAAR
Scheme of MCIIE. In this tea, essential nutrients such as vitamin, protein, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, etc. are available, which increase the energy level in humans and increases immunity.
The other startups have made snacks made of chia, quinoa, seeds, nuts, fruits and vegetables which are full of essential nutrients. These products are full of nutrients like high fiber with high protein antioxidants like omega-3 fatty acid, beta carotene, minerals etc. which increase physical immunity. Additionally, in another startup, with the help of medicinal mushrooms Cordyceps Militaris found in the Himalayan region, tea is made which has medicinal properties such as anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, etc. This tea increases the metabolic activities of human beings, thereby strengthening the internal immune system of the body.
Dr. Kamini Singh, Dr. Mani Uperati, Nisha Niranjan are prominent in manufacturing these products. The coordinator Prof. PK Mishra said that the products made from moringa, chia, quinoa, seeds, nuts, fruits, vegetables and medicinal mushrooms have their own importance and the products made from them by various research has also been certified.
IIT (BHU) director of the Institute, Prof. Pramod Kumar Jain said that the Government of India is paying special attention to agricultural based start ups in technical institutes. This is a very commendable step towards further developing and promoting Indian agricultural product. “Our effort will be to make many more products with the help of technology in the Institute, which can be used for social welfare,” he said.
