Eight fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected in Varanasi

The number of infected persons rises to 60

 

Varanasi: With the detection of eight positive cases on COVID-19 on Thursday the number of infected persons rose to 60 in Varanasi. As many as 24 persons tested positive in last three days.

The eight infected persons include a 50-year-old power loom operator of Jaitpura area, three police personnel posted at Sigra police station and Varanasi Municipal Corporation outpost in Sigra area, a 50-year-old ward boy at Shivpur community health centre, a 24-year-old employee of medicine trader at Saptsagar market, a 40-year-old postal staff at VMS post office, and a  20-year-old truck operator of Gosaipur Mohao area.

According to the district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, the power loom operator suffering from chest infection was referred to BHU hospital from Jamia Hospital. The sample of policeman was taken three days back after screening. The ward boy, resident of Lanka area, is a diabetic. The postal staff, resident of Chandua Chhittupur, contracted the infection from policemen of VMC outpost. The truck operator had gone to Mumbai for 10 days, and returned two days back with fever.
