BHU extends last date of submission for application form up to March 12
Over four lakh applications received so far.
Varanasi: The online application process for admission to various UG and PG programmes of Banaras Hindu University for the academic session 2020-21 commenced on the Foundation Day (Basant Panchami, January 30) with the last date of receipt of online application form fixed as February 29.
According to BHU spokesperson, so far, over four lakh applications have been received for admission to various UG & PG programmes for academic session 2020-21. The university has decided to extend the last date for submission of online application forms up to March 12 keeping in view the on-going examinations of the various senior secondary board of examinations (Class – 12th).
This year, the university has planned to conduct its Entrance Examinations on 26th April 2020, 10th May 2020 and from 18th May to 29th May in two shifts in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in 202 cities across the country for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The conduct of the CBT mode test in a secured environment in a large number of cities across the country will provide ease of access to candidates and would increase the diversity of students’ community in BHU. Unlike OMR based test system, the CBT mode facilitates a candidate to change his/her answer to a question with a click of mouse anytime during the duration of an examination. This facility was not available in the pen-paper (OMR Based) mode. As the considerable time of a candidate is spent on darkening the bubbles in the OMR system, the CBT system also saves valuable working time of the candidates. To acquaint the candidates with the CBT environment, a manual on CBT (in English and Hindi) has been made available on the BHU’s Entrance Test Portal (www.bhuonline.in). A CBT mock test link is also provided on the Entrance Test Portal which can be accessed by the candidates for practising/writing a test in the CBT environment. Candidates who are going to write a Test in the CBT environment for the first time may go through the CBT manual and practice the mock test through the link available on the Entrance Test Portal. As the mock test is the replica of the actual CBT environment, practising on it will provide them with an opportunity to visualize the ease of CBT mode.
In case the number of applicants opting for a Test City for CBT is more than the available infrastructural capacity for holding CBT in the concerned City, allotment of an alternate City would be made, in the order of preference indicated by the applicant, subject to availability of infrastructure facilities in such alternate cities. In case adjustment of candidates is not feasible in alternate cities of preference, the University reserves the right to convert the mode of examination of such candidates from CBT mode to pen and paper mode (OMR based) to avoid long-distance migration of candidates from one city to another City. In that case, Test in both the modes would be conducted on the same date, same time and with the same question paper.
