aranasi: The rise in COVID-19 cases continued on Thursday with 21 more persons infected with coronavirus increasing the tally to 546 in the district. With the death of one more person due to COVID-19, the toll rose to 21.

According to the district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, 21 new patients of COVID-19 positive were detected in the district, though 10 patients, who recovered from illness, were discharged on Thursday. A 65-year-old cardiac patient from Gwaldas Sahu lane in Kotwali area died during treatment. So far 317 have recovered, and 208 patients are under treatment at different hospitals. Presently, there are 130 active hotspots in the district.
Meanwhile in Ballia, 13 new cases of COVID-19 positive were found, and two infected persons died on Thursday. The district magistrate Ballia Hari Pratap Shahi ordered for complete lockdown in the district till July 10. The number of COVID-19 patients rose to 147 out of whom 99 have recovered from illness.
In Jaunpur district, seven new COVID patients were found increasing the tally to 550. Of them 476 have recovered, while there are 65 active cases of coronavirus in the district. Chandauli district too recorded seven new COVID cases increasing the tally 165 with 100 active cases. As many as 64 patients have recovered, while one patient died. The Mirzapur district too witnessed six new COVID cases on Thursday increasing the tally to 105. Of them 71 have recovered, and one patient died.
