Baby’s life journey begins and ends in running train

 

Varanasi: Karuna (imaginary name), a lovely baby who began her journey in her mother’s womb from Mumbai by a Shramik special train, could not reach her parents’ native place in Bihar alive surely due to COVID-19 lockdown.  Her journey of life got snapped in the beginning in the running train.

Raju Shah, a migrant worker and resident of Mahmadpur Mahmada village in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, boarded the Shramik special train (01932) at Mumbai with his wife, who was in the last stage of her pregnancy. She gave birth to the baby on board in between Narsinghpur and Jabalpur railway stations in Madhya Pradesh on May 22.

The couple were happy to see the newborn in a difficult situation of lockdown. But their happiness was short-lived. The baby died after some time of her birth in running train leaving her parents in a state of shock. The matter was informed to the train running staff.

The railway authorities communicated the matter to Mirzapur railway station and district administration for necessary action. According to Mirzapur district magistrate Sushil Patel, the couple sought help from the railway authorities for taking the body to their home. The railway officials informed the matter to the district administration and sought help in this regard.

After getting information the officials of railway, RPF, GRP and civil police went to the Mirzapur railway station on May 23 to attend the couple. On the arrival of the train at the platform number 1 of Mirzapur railway station the check-up was done and death certificate was provided by the railway doctor. On the request of the couple ice blocks were arranged to preserve the body during further journey.
