Varanasi: Formulation of deshi antidote to corona virus claiming cure of COVID-19 pushed a man behind the bars in Ballia district after the video went viral in social media on Sunday. He was, however, released on bail on Tuesday.

Rakesh Singh alias Pintu Singh, the gram Pradhan of Tikadevari village in Chitbadagaon police station area in Ballia district, was seen sitting on a cot and explaining the formulation of the deshi drug for corona virus treatment. According to him, the ingredients of this low-cost medicine included Neem leaves, camphor and alum. What to do is to boil the mixture of these things for two hours, and then put it in a drum. One needs to smell the vapor to get rid of corona virus.

He was also heard claiming that two symptomatic persons got cured with this therapy. He also appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to popularize the medicine for corona virus treatment.

According to Chitbadagaon inspector Hariram Maurya, the pradhan was booked under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of IPC. As the sections were bailable, he was granted bail.
