Serving the poor in lockdown is ‘Aghor Narayan Sewa’

 

Varanasi: When the entire country in total lockdown is battling against corona virus, many social organisations and individuals at local levels have come up with helping hands to serve the humanity in collaboration with the local administration.

In this battle against COVID-19, the Aghor Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to combining service and spirituality, has also engaged its group of dedicated volunteers -Aghor Sewa Dal to supply food and essential commodities to the poor families during lockdown period.

“For us it is Aghor Narayan Sewa, which has been continuing since March 26. More than 100 families living in different localities including Samne Ghat, Foundation,” said Tejbal Pandey, who leads the volunteers. “Besides food, we also provide personal protective equipment to various service personnel active on the front lines in this fight against COVID-19,” he said.

 

According to him, the group follows all the guidelines regarding safety and precautions underlined by the central and state governments. The other senior volunteers who lead the group are Vidya Sagar, Vimal Tiwari, and Dilip Pandey. “During the Navaratri we decided that to do ‘Nav Kanya Pujan’ on the 9th day of Navaratri with 30 little girls from the slum and neighborhood,” he said.

He said that the service was started by the grace of Baba Harihar Ram Ji, the founder and spiritual leader of the foundation. He is the founder of the Sonoma Ashram in the United States. He is a disciple of Aghoreshwar Bhagwan Ramji, the founder of the modern traditions of Aghor. The Aghor Foundation inspires and provides a stage for individuals to connect with their inner peace and live a life of selfless service.
